History
What would become Lisbon was founded in 1763, when Governor Benning Wentworth granted a charter in 1763 under the name of Concord. However, no one settled in the town at that time.
In 1768, another charter was issued was issued for the community of Gunthwaite. At town meeting in 1824, is was voted to name the town Lisbon after Lisbon, Portugal.
